Most of the people spend their time in working and out of them more than 60% of adults spend 2,000 or more hours a year at work. Worksite wellness helps in making the places they work in good health. An ideal healthy worksite has many prospects for employees to be physically active, eat healthful foods and live a tobacco-free life.
A survey was done in 2002 in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services which studied and noted that corporations with physical activity curriculums for employees have abridged the health care costs by 20 percent to 55 percent and reduced short-range sick leave by up to 32 percent and increased productivity by up to 52 %. These worksite wellness pages present tools and assets for enhancing physical activity and diet and diminishing the tobacco-use at the worksite. They are grounded on the 10 years of experience of NYSDOH Healthy Heart Program's which is financially supporting worksite wellness programs and are intended for individual worksites to create healthier atmospheres for employees. The topics covered under this focus on chronic diseases (e.g., heart disease, diabetes, cancer) prevention and aim at changes that make it easier to be physically active and consume healthy foods. The State Health Plan gives confidence to our members to start or take part in a wellness program at their workplace.
